Louise Stone Adams

Louise Stone Adams, 86 passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at her home in Noxapater, MS surrounded by family. Funeral services were held Friday, December 27 at 2PM at Stephens Chapel Funeral Home in Philadelphia, MS. Interment was in Mars Hill Cemetery in Winston County. Visitation was Friday 12 noon until time of service.

Mrs. Adams was born in Itta Bena, MS to parents Herman and Dolly Stone but grew up in the Zama community near Kosciusko, MS. She married Edsel Adams in 1952 and in 1955 they moved to Greenwood, MS and lived there for 22 years. Mrs. Adams was a telephone operator at South Central Bell and later a mother and homemaker. In 1979 her family moved to Noxapater, MS and she resided there for the rest of her life. For over 20 years she worked hard to run the family poultry business and then retired to tend her garden, attend Church functions, and enjoy being a grandmother.

Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, Arden, Doris, Evon, Lee, and Grady Stone, and a sister, Dorothy Lott. She is survived by her husband Edsel Adams, daughter Carolyn Woods (Ken) of Acworth, GA, son Michael Adams of Long Beach, MS and 2 grandsons, Adam Woods of Marietta, GA and Andrew Woods of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Adam Woods, Andrew Woods, Tony Adams, Alan Stone, Eddie Frost, and James Adams.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church in Noxapater, MS, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
