Gloria Reed Nowell

Mrs. Gloria Reed Nowell, 85, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2019, at her home in the Nanih Waiya community. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 14th, at Harmony Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Lundy and Rev. David Addy officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Ellison Ridge Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nowell was born December 29, 1933, in Louisville, MS. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School, and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. In addition to being a homemaker, she loved working in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Myers Palmer and Theron Palmer; her husbands, Ben Reed and Nolan Nowell; one grandson, Eric Weaver; one brother, Travis Palmer; and two sisters, Louise Gregory and Melba Ball.

She is survived by her children, Pam Weaver of Louisville, Patti (Mark) Gaddis of Forest, MS, Perry Reed of Augusta, GA, and Paul (Judy) Reed of Mobile, AL; her special niece, Jamie (David) King of Louisville; three brothers, J.W. Palmer of Louisville, Jimmy Palmer of Florida, and Billy Palmer of Florida; her grandchildren, Josh (Courtney) Weaver, Luke (Raquel) Reed, Laura Reed, Leigh Reed Stewart, Chase Gaddis, Reed Gaddis, Ben Reed, and Demi Reed; great grandchildren, Zaid Stewart, Sadie Grae Stewart, and Scarlett Rae Weaver; a host of nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Bo.

Pallbearers will be Josh Weaver, Luke Reed, Chase Gaddis, Reed Gaddis, Ben Reed, and Quinn Michael Hill. Honorary pallbearers are Greg King and Eric Weaver, her guardian angels.
