Larry Stone Kennedy

Dr. Larry Stone Kennedy, age 64, passed away at his home in Madison, Mississippi, around June 12, 2019. 
Larry was born August 26, 1954 to Noble and Evelyn Stone Kennedy of McCool, Mississippi.
He graduated from Louisville High School in 1972. After graduation, he attended Mississippi State University attaining his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree in agriculture. He then attended the University of Tennessee, where he received another bachelor’s degree and his PhD.

Upon graduation, he went to work for Ferry-Morse Seed Company in San Juan Bautista, California. He enjoyed overseeing vegetable breeder labs in California, France, Chili and other countries.
After being in California for several years and traveling extensively, he decided to return to Mississippi before he went to work for U.S. Customs and Border Protection in New Orleans. There, Larry received numerous awards for his accomplishments. He retired after 12 years and moved back to Madison, Mississippi.
Larry was was an avid coin collector, enjoyed gardening and music.

Dr. Larry Kennedy is survived by his brother Franklin and his wife Mary Kennedy of Louisville, Mississippi. His nephews Steve and wife Juanita Kennedy of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Andy and his wife Kimber Kennedy of Birmingham, Alabama. His niece, Julie and husband Frank Scalfaro of Tampa, Florida. He is also survived by four great nieces and two great nephews.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mount Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund at 199 Gordan Rd., McCool, MS 39108.
