Gale Pearson

Gale Metts Pearson, age 83, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 27, 2019, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30 in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Odom, Rev. Paul Blanchard, and Rev. Phil Fancher officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Gale was born February 26, 1936, in Winston County to Henry Howard “H. H.” and Christine Weeks Metts. She graduated valedictorian of Louisville High School Class of 1954. She was currently a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was active as a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She was also a very active member while a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. Gale loved working in her flowers and traveling.

Gale is survived by her husband Jack B. Pearson of Louisville; her son Petey Smith and wife Sally of Columbia, Louisiana; and her sister Polly Price of Carson City, Nevada. One of her greatest joys was being “Nanny Gale” to her three granddaughters: Mistie Newtson (Brett); Breeze Smith Wu; and Angel Wilson (Michael); as well as 7 great-grandchildren. Gale is also survived by her step-daughter Brenda McAdory and husband Buster; and step-son Jay Pearson and wife Patti. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Brown, Randy Hill, Leland James, Jake McKenzie, Butch Miller, and Tommy D. Rives. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Betts and Urshell Hill. Memorial contributions in honor of Gale may be given to Antioch Baptist Church, c/o Butch Miller, 32220 Highway 25 North, Sturgis, MS 39769.
