Bonnie Yates Taylor

Bonnie Yates Taylor, 77, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Rush Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 17 in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Butler officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12 noon until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bonnie was born May 9, 1941, to L. C. and Ruby Hill Yates in Winston County, Mississippi. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed working in her flowers, reading, crossword puzzles, and watching the birds and squirrels play in her yard.

Bonnie is survived by three daughters: Susan Presley and husband Jimmy of Preston, Mississippi; Sandra Dewberry Flake of Louisville; and Beth Thompson of Shuqualak, Mississippi; and son David Johnson, Jr. and Lynn Ogletree of Philadelphia, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Nanny” to her seven grandchildren: Michelle Dixon and husband Harry; Kayla Thompson; Dawson Boyette; Sarah Johnson; Dalanna Parker; Anthony Flake and wife Cyndi; and Robert Flake; as well as her eight great-grandchildren: Nikkie (Hunter) Glass; Dallas Dixon; Makayla Dixon; Alayna Johnson; Andie Kay Parker; Bo Edward Parker; and Laine and Payton Flake. She also leaves behind to mourn her passing two sisters Charlotte Moody and Shirley Hooks; and her brother Ralph Yates in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Van Richard Taylor; her parents; and sons-in-law Virgil Dewberry and Jimmy Flake.

Serving as pallbearers will be Austin Boswell, Harry Dixon, Jasper Gant, Hunter Glass, Dennis Hooks, and Jimmy Presley. Memorial contributions in honor of Bonnie may be given to Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Chet Wilkes, 2357 Tuck Wilkes Road, Noxapater, MS 39346.
