Don Sisson, age 69, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Visitation will be Sunday,
October 7, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 8, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehall United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Don was born in Winston County on January 2, 1949, to Melvin and Mary Belle Dempsey Sisson. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and he was a general contractor.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carolyn Rogers Sisson. He also leaves behind to mourn his passing three children: Angie McGee and husband, Bill; Jenny Vowell and husband, John; and Casey Sisson, all of Louisville; as well as his sister, Sandy Jo Pope and husband, Kevin, of Philadelphia, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Papaw” to his six grandchildren: Zachary (April) Vowell; Jack (Kenna) Vowell; Mason McGee; Hayden McGee; Kirk (Chelsea) Sisson; and Lily Sisson; and his great-granddaughter, Paisley Vowell. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Patty Howard.
Serving as pallbearers are Bill McGee, Hayden McGee, Mason McGee, Kirk Sisson, Jack Vowell, John Vowell, and Zach Vowell. Memorial contributions honoring Don may be given to The University of Texas, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
