Udell was born November 24, 1929, to Vester and Eula Keen Ward. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville where he faithfully served as a deacon. Udell enjoyed his membership in the Gideon’s International Organization and the local Winston-Choctaw Camp. He was a cattle farmer and for approximately 30 years, he was the owner of Ward Farm Services. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army.
Udell is survived by his daughter, Carol Jean Triggs of Ridgeland, Mississippi; and two sons, Joe Ward and wife, Annette, of Louisville; and Clay Ward and wife, Amy, of Tullahoma, Tennessee. One of his greatest joys was being “Granddaddy” to his two grandchildren: Jesse Ward and wife, Holly; and Marianne Ward; as well as his six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Peaster Ward; his parents; and five siblings: Lavaun Ward; W. J. “Billy” Ward; Mary Elizabeth Herrington; Bobby Gene Ward; and Jeanette Hill.
Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Hill, Cliff Hudson, Kevin Hudson, Ricky Miller, Danny Ward, and Jesse Ward. Members of the Winston-Choctaw Gideon Camp will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials in honor of Udell may be given to Gideon’s International, Winston-Choctaw Camp, P. O. Box 556, Louisville, MS 39339.
