Joe Charles Luke

Services for Joe Charles Luke will be held on Monday August 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from Coy Assembly of God. Visitation will be held on Sunday August 26, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Interment will be in Coye Assembly of God Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that the family of Joe Charles Luke announces his departure from this earthly home to his heavenly home on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian, Ms. This came after a long battle with multiple myeloma and other complications.

Mr. Luke was born in Winston County on May 19, 1949. He made a career out of serving in the Mississippi National Guard and served in Iraq during 2003-2004. He retired from the Army in 2009 after 38 years of service. Many from the guard called him Joe, while most in the community called him Charles or Charlie. To
family, he was Poppy, which was the only thing he loved more than being a dad.

Poppy loved his family and loved to fish and to watch the Nanih Waiya Warriors baseball team. Mr. Luke was a member of Coy Assembly of God in Preston.

Survivors include his wife of nearly fifty years, Wanda Kay Luke of Preston; daughter Karla (Justin) Chandler of Preston; son, Shawn (Brittney) Luke of Louisville; grandchildren, Lauren (Trey) Whitehead and Morgan Luke of Louisville, Hunter (Harlie) Luke of
Dekalb, Jade and J.D. Chandler of Preston; great-grandchildren, Charleigh Whitehead, Olivia Crapps, and Cullum Luke; mother, Ann Baughman; sister, Lesia (Olyn) Boswell; mother-in-law, Willow Dean Warren; sister-in-laws, Kathy Luke, Monica (Danny)
Edwards, and Pam Stokes; brother-in-law, Gully (Georgia) Warren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
