Kathleen was born in Mize, Mississippi, on July 9, 1932, to Davis and Madie Stewart. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Mize.
Although spending some time working in sales, most of her life was dedicated to family and providing care of her children, parents, and grandchildren.

Kathleen is survived by her son, Joey Smith (Rhonda) of Brandon, Mississippi; her daughter, Karen Smith of Louisville; two grandsons, Joseph Smith of Tupelo, Mississippi, and David Smith of Vicksburg, Mississippi; a sister, Jerrie Gentry of Terry, Mississippi; a sister-in-law, Nettie Smith of Laurel, Mississippi; two nieces, Cindy Davis (Scott) of Terry, Mississippi, and Jeanne Sherman (William) of Bay Springs, Mississippi; three nephews, David Smith of Laurel, Mississippi, Randy Smith (Janet) of Laurel, Mississippi, and Byron Smith (Mary Lynn) of Moselle, Mississippi; a great-niece, Chancee Lynn Davis; a great-nephew, Gentry Davis; and numerous other great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Valery Joe Smith, her parents, and her brother, Charles Stewart.
