Frances Tabor

Mrs. Frances Johnson Tabor, 90, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 16th, at First Methodist Church in Louisville, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be Friday at First Methodist Church from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Tabor was born March 16, 1928, in McCool, MS. She graduated from Lobutcha High School. She and her husband, Bill Tabor, founded Tabor Drugs in June, 1954, where they worked side by side building a business that is still serving the citizens of Winston County today. At Tabor Drugs, she worked as bookkeeper, and she also owned the United Dollar Store on Main Street. Mrs. Tabor was a member of First Methodist Church since December 2, 1956, where she was very active, and served in many positions in the church. She was a life member of Louisville Junior Auxiliary, was a former Girl Scout leader, and was awarded Tree Farmer of the Year by the Louisville/Winston County Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid bridge player and always looked forward to her bridge club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. “Bill” Tabor, Jr., her parents, Carrie Mae Dean and Melton Caswell Johnson; a sister, Mae Massey; and four brothers, Claitor Johnson, John Johnson, Walter Johnson, and Raymond Johnson.

She is survived by a son, William E. “Bill” (Janis) Tabor, III; three daughters, Brenda (Richard) Hunt, Mary Tabor (Gary Hillhouse), and Charlotte Nabers, all of Louisville; a sister, Kathleen Read of Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Will (Michelle) Tabor, Mary Catherine Hunt, Julie Hunt, Justin (Maribeth) Hillhouse, Morgan (Brett) Caldecott, and Braeden Nabers; 5 great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to especially thank her close family friends and caregivers, Annie Mae Young and Mary Lee Wells.

Pallbearers will be Ken Sims, Mark Read, Stephen Read, Jeffrey Dean, Donnie Tabor, Danny Tabor, and Jason Tabor.
