Ms. Lena (Massey) Boatner, 91, passed on Saturday February 3rd, 2018 in Oxford, MS. Visitation will be held at Evergreen Baptist Church in Louisville, MS on Saturday, February 10th from 10:00-11:45 followed by a Graveside Service at Noon officiated by Bro. Albert McMullen.
Lena was born in Winston County on August 31st, 1926 to Silas Massey and Mary Jane Upchurch. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church of Louisville. She served at church as a Sunday School teacher, Nursery worker, and a member of the women’s ministry. Lena and her husband owned and operated Boatner’s Jewelry store in Ackerman, MS. After moving to Louisville, Lena worked as a seamstress at Perry’s Department store and Barney’s Alterations. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, her rocking chair(s) and visiting friends. Lena was a simple lady that loved the Lord and had a servant’s heart. She put others first and loved her friends and family dearly.
Lena is survived by her three granddaughters, Heather Bouchillon of Louisville; Holli Ratcliffe and her husband Andrew of Oxford; Stefanie Powell and her husband Cpt Gabe Powell of West Point, NY; and her son-in-law, Mike Bouchillon of Louisville. She has five great grandchildren: Grayson, Massey, Jett, Eloise, and Amelia-Jean.
Lena is preceded in death by her husband, Mearl F. Boatner; her daughter, Janie Bouchillon; her son, Doug Boatner; and her siblings: Robert Massey, Margaret Barton, Morris Massey, James Massey, Roy Massey, and Troy Massey.
