Charles Edward Chaney


Mr. Charles Edward Chaney, 91, died Sunday, November 12, 2017, at the Bee Hive Home in Starkville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 16th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chaney was born in February 25, 1926, in Louisville, MS. He was a graduate of Louisville High School, and graduated from Mississippi State University with an accounting degree. He was a retired rural mail carrier and a public accountant. He was an avid Mississippi State fan, and loved attending all MSU sporting events, especially basketball and baseball. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Chaney was preceded in death by his wife, Maggie Hope Chaney; his parents, J. F. and Nellie Chaney; and a brother, Fred Chaney.

He is survived by a son, Jimmy (Brenda) Chaney of Brandon, MS; two daughters, Hope (Matt) Wesson of Tupelo, MS, and Suzanne (John Taylor) Paschal of Louisville; a sister, Grace Chaney Lewis of Knoxville, TN. He was affectionately known as “Gaggy” to 8 grandchildren, Margaret (Rob) Eshleman, Matthew (Noelle Graham) Wesson, Betsy (Paden) McCullough, Brad (Danielle) Chaney, Kendall Chaney, Taylor (Candice) Paschal, Chaney (Chelsie) Paschal, and Cameron Paschal; and 8 great grandchildren, Kinley and August Paschal, Eden and Maggie Polk, Parker Chaney, Charlie Eshleman, Tallen Paschal, and Chaney McCullough.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Paschal, Chaney Paschal, Cameron Paschal, Matthew Wesson, and Brad Chaney.
