Mr. James H. “Jake” Mills, 87, died July 3, 2017, at Oktibbeha County Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 5th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Leslie Mills and Rev. Mike Dowd officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jake was born March 20, 1930, in Winston County, MS. He graduated from Lobutcha High School, and was retired from the U. S. Air Force and Civil Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Della and Robert Elmer Mills; his first wife, Betty Jo Mills; two daughters, Sandra Jo Mills and Wanda Gail Mills; a sister, Annie Joyce Moore; and three brothers, R. W. Mills, Dalton Mills, and Elvis Mills.
He is survived by his wife, Becky McGahey Mills of Starkville; two step-children, Sharon Eaves of Louisville, and Chuck Eaves of Memphis, TN; a sister, Doris Sowell of Columbus, MS; three grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wade Mills, Johnny Boone, Chuck Mills, Jeff Smith, Allen Hartness, and Danny Mills.
