Deborah Renee Pickett Hutchings

Deborah Renee Pickett Hutchings passed away Thursday, April 13th in Sanford, Florida, surrounded by family.Debbie was born in Meridian to Hazel and Randolph Pickett. She spent her younger years in Dekalb. The family moved to Louisville, where Debbie graduated from Louisville High School. For years, Debbie worked for former attorney and Judge Dannye Hunter in Forest, and later, attorneys Pat and Judy Donald in Morton.

Debbie never forgot a name. She had a gift of making each person that she came in contact with feel special. From the waiters at her favorite restaurant to caretakers, Debbie asked and remembered details about children, parents and life's ups and downs because she was genuinely interested in their lives.Debbie loved her New Orleans Saints and was loyal through good and bad seasons. Watching the Saints play on TV was serious business. Music was a big part of her life. She loved rock and country. She also liked pretty cars, pretty clothes and her lovely home.

Debbie had a quick mind and great sense of humor. She loved a good story, classic TV and funny movies. Her laugh was contagious. She had instructions for everyone and every occasion, from moving furniture to folding towels. Debbie was passionate about her family and friends, and engaged in the smallest details of their lives. She loved to share the accomplishments of her sons, daughters and grandchildren. She was proud that her husband was named President of Hutchings Automotive Products LLC. She was proud that the son who loved TV grew up to run a television station. She was proud that the son who loved music grew up to produce music and tour as a drummer.

Debbie is survived by her husband Don Hutchings of Sanford, Florida, her sons Derek Rogers (Mary Carroll) of Starkville and Ryan Rogers of Oxford, her step-daughters Donna Campbell (Jeff), Beth Abney (Mike), both of Albertville, Alabama, Renee Hutchings of Idaho and Trina Hutchings of Debary, Florida. She is also survived by her brother, Randy Pickett (Susan) of Brookhaven, nine grandchildren, in addition to extended family that includes cousins and nephews and a niece. Debbie is also survived by her dear friend Carmen Vega and the extended and loving family of Hutchings Automotive Products, LLC.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 10:00 am – 11:45 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest. A celebration of life will begin at 12 noon immediately following the visitation in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Blackwater Cemetery in Kemper County under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
