Thurston Wylie

Mr. Thurston Wylie, 68, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at his residence in Preston, Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nathan Moore and Rev. Freddie Tanksley officiating; assisted by Rev. Adam Wylie. Interment will follow in Betheden Church Cemetery.

Thurston was born February 29, 1948, to Henry “Dick” and Margaret Delk Wylie. He was a member of North Bend Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia, Mississippi; and he was retired from Luvel Dairy Products in Kosciusko, Mississippi, where he worked in delivery and sales. He loved farming and still worked his garden with his mules, Doc and Joe. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.


Thurston is survived by his wife of 48 years, Annette Wylie; two sons, Scott Wylie and wife, Kim, all of Preston; and Jason Wylie and wife, Leah, of Magnolia, Arkansas; and his brother, Marion Delk Wylie and wife, Debbie, of Marlboro, Massachusetts. One of his greatest joys was being “Pop” to his four grandchildren: Adam Wylie and fiancĂ©, Penne Mason; Aron Wylie and wife, Amber; Haden Wylie; and Jaleigh Wylie. He was preceded in death by his parents.




Serving as pallbearers are Chase Boatwright, Randy Colburn, Camden Fulton, Shane Fulton, Bobby Mayo, and Jule White. Honorary pallbearers are Dwayne Breedlove, Dale Fulton, Jimmy McDonald, James Salers, and John Spears. Memorial contributions in honor of Thurston may be given to Quality Hospice Care, 340 Byrd Avenue, Philadelphia, MS 39350.
