Ms. Steed was born July 27, 1921, to William Oliver Walker and Callie Ramage Walker in Choctaw County, Mississippi. She was a member of Doty Springs Baptist Church and she worked at TRW Manufacturing. She loved being outdoors—working in her yard and flowers or riding a four-wheeler; she also loved to cook and make quilts.
Ms. Tommie Lee is survived her daughter, Jarvis DeFranco and husband, Doug; and her son, Ricky Steed and wife, Debbie, all of McCool, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Mamaw” to her three grandchildren: Amanda Smith and husband, Derick; Monica Overton and husband, Henry; and Missie King and husband, Greg. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren: Jordan Hallman and husband, Justin; Holton and Haigan Hancock; Matthew Thorn; Lily Robertson; Isaiah and Kinsley Conner; Lana Grace, Amelia, and Anna Beth Overton; as well as two great-great-grandchildren: Ansley and Kayden Hallman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delton Steed; her parents; her sister, Opal Prewitt; and two brothers, J. W. Walker and Cecil Walker.
