Lucia C. Daws

Lucia Carol Daws, age 57, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at 2:20 P. M. at home in Canton, Mississippi. She was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Alex Daws and Eva Dean Hanna Daws. She worked in property management and ran several properties in the state of Texas and in her home state of Mississippi. She loved the challenges of her career, the different places she lived, and the many people she met.

Lucia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children and her grandchildren, the lights of her life...her son, John Hartfield, of Canton, Mississippi, her daughter, Brandy Montgomery and her husband Lee Montgomery, and her grandchildren, Destiny and Ricky Harvey, all of Canton, Mississippi. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Daws, of Louisville, Mississippi.

Some of Lucia's fondest memories were of her years at Noxapater High School playing on the basketball team. She loved telling stories of those years and had an amazing ability to remember details of each game, many times even remembering the scores.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her daughter, Brandy, for taking such excellent care of her mom during these past three years. As Lucia's health declined and she had to begin dialysis, her son John and family moved her from Texas to Brandy's home in Canton where she took care of her mom's every need.

Lucia has always been a fighter, and she had to fight many health issues through the years. She fought this, her final battle against cancer, with bravery and with a positive attitude and was an inspiration and a blessing to everyone around her. Because of Lucia's strong faith and her belief in the death, burial and ressurection of Jesus Christ,
(1 Corinthians 15: 1-4), the family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior and will never have to fight again. (2 Corinthians 5:8)

Breeland Funeral Home of Canton, Mississippi is in charge of arrangements. A memorial in honor of Lucia's life will be held.
