Bob was born March 20, 1937, to James Robert and Etta Anderson Rives. He was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Ackerman. Bob loved to work and was a retired business owner specializing in plumbing and electrical work; and he was a “hobby” farmer—he loved gardening, his goats, and his horses.
Mr. Rives is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Prisock Rives of Ackerman; two daughters, Pat Rives Upton and husband, Marshall, of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and Gwen Rives Blaine of Starkville, Mississippi; his sister-in-law, Lucia Gail Rives also of Starkville; and brother-in-law, Henry Edwards of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “PawPaw” to his grandchildren: Carl Upton III and wife, April; Cameron Upton; Jan Blaine and wife, Elizabeth; Alanna Scholtes and husband, Beck; and Clark Blaine; and to his five great-grandchildren: Necee Wilson; Alexis Wilson; Jazzlyn Shelley; Knox Blaine; and Beau Blaine. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and four brothers.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jan Blaine, Alanna Scholtes, Beck Scholtes, Clark Blaine, Carl Upton, Cameron Upton, and Johnny Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be David Shanteau, Andy Stephenson, Leonard Smith, and Bobby and Ruth Black. Memorials may be given to Beth Eden Cemetery Fund or to Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman.
