Charles Walters, Jr.

Charles Walters, Jr., 85, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Haggard officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.


Mr. Walters was born April 18, 1931, to Margaret Lindell and Charles Walters, Sr. in Noxapater, Mississippi. He served in the United States Air Force for approximately 30 years attaining the rank of Master Sergeant before his retirement. In the following years, he served as the Postmaster in Ethel, Mississippi, later retiring from the United States Postal Service.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Lynda Walters Morris, of Louisville, Mississippi. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michael Lawson; Chad Raley and wife, Tammy; Thomas “T. C.” Broome and wife, Kellee; Joel Armstrong; Meranda Armstrong; Margaret “Maggie” Morris; and Jeffrey Morris. Also left to mourn his passing is four great-grandchildren: Riley Lawson; Pryce Lawson; Kade Raley; and Bella Broome. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Walters; his parents; two daughters, Margaret Raley and Jean Mayo; and his son, Charles Lee Walters.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ashton Edwards, Michael Smith, and Billy Vowell.
