Ms. Newsom, 93, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Neshoba County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker. Her favorite pastime was quilting and working in her flowers. She was a member of Ocobla Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her parents, Dewey C. Burton and Emily Virginia Bounds Burton; husbands, Arnold Lackey and Bill Newsom; son, Marion Lackey; grandson, Barry Lackey; brothers, Dewey and Ralph Burton; daughter-in-law, Judy Lackey.
Survivors are daughters, Rachel Rushing (Richard) of Noxapater, Sandra King (Neal) of Philadelphia and step-daughter Nancy Townsend (Harvey) of Union; sons, Jimmy Lackey of Philadelphia, Eddie Newsom of Philadelphia and step-son, Billy Newsom of TN; sister, Marzine Smith of Dekalb; several nieces and nephews; (6) grandchildren; (13) great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Kevin Robertson, Kris Robertson, Cory King, Wyatt Robertson, Brice Alford, Chandler Fortenberry, Brady Alford and Peyton Robertson.
