Janet Rose Watson Collins, 57, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville, Mississippi, with Rev. Leslie “Bo” Mills officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 1 p.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi.
Janet was born June 29, 1958 to Earl and Peggy Rose Peterson Watson. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church of Madison, Mississippi. Janet graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1985 and enjoyed a successful career as a certified public accountant. Her greatest pleasures in life were family and friends. Janet Rose realized her greatest passion with the birth of Maddie Rose in 1995. Janet never met a stranger and was well-known for her smile and the twinkle in her eyes.
Janet is survived by her husband of 37 years, Ron Collins; her daughter, Maddie Rose Collins both of Madison, Mississippi; her brother, David Watson of Louisville; and her sister-in-law, Lisa Watson of Louisville. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Phillip Watson; Laura Watson Kujawa and husband, Kevin; Katie Watson Butts and husband, Will; and Maggie Watson Reed and husband, Austin. Janet was also survived by many other loving friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Elton Watson.
Serving as pallbearers will be James Woodiel, Dell Coward, James Hills, James Coward, Jessie Casey, Corey Coward, Steve Hendrix and Pete Mills. Honorary pallbearers are Troy Coward and Jerry Coward. Memorials may be given to Oak Grove Cemetery Fund, 19 Asa Thomas Road, Noxapater, MS 39346.
