Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Coy Methodist Cemetery.

Ms. Cheatham was born May 13, 1919, to Tildon and Ellen Eldridge Pickett. She was a member of Mt. Hebron Methodist Church and she retired after working at Spartus for 12 years. Ms. Ruth was a homemaker; she was a down-to-earth, hardworking, loving, helping, fun person…the party didn’t start until she got there! She also enjoyed working in her yard and garden, singing, fishing, cooking and eating, but most of all she loved and enjoyed her family. She was truly a friend to everyone.

Ms. Cheatham is survived by her daughter, Patti Skelton of Gulf Shores, Alabama; and two grandchildren, Terry Skelton of Memphis, Tennessee; and Nikki Skelton also of Gulf Shores; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Also let’s not forget her “grand critters”: two “grand” dogs, Max and Lokie; and her “grand” cat, Miss Kitty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Cheatham; her parents; six brothers: Eldridge Pickett, Leslie Pickett, George “G. T.” Pickett, Woodrow Pickett, Horace Pickett, and Grady Pickett; and her sister, Beatrice Lovorn.

Serving as pallbearers will be Buddy Pickett, Warren Pickett, James Robbins, Pat Robbins, T. J. Robbins, and Terry Skelton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Quality Hospice Care, 340 Byrd Avenue, Philadelphia, MS 39350.

Services are under the direction of Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by signing the guest register at www.nowellmasseyfuneralhome.com.
