Dot Brannon Thiel

Dot Brannon Thiel, 76, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Fancher officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Dot was born September 2, 1939, to Buddy and Doris Cooper Pugh. She was a member of Wess Chapel Baptist Church of Louisville; and she owned and managed Cooper’s Grocery for more than 30 years.

Dot is survived by her three children: Robin Thompson and husband, Doug; Tracy Collins and husband, Dale; and Chris Brannon and wife, Cassandra, all of Louisville. She is also survived by two aunts, Billie Rae Wood and Billie Dean Cooper. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandma” to her seven grandchildren: Amanda Gronewold and husband, Scott; Jake Thompson, Josh Thompson, Chase Collins, Caden Collins, Shan Brannon, and Landie Rae Brannon; and her great-granddaughter, Hadley Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter “Wally” Thiel; and her grandson, Cody Collins.

Serving as pallbearers will be Caden Collins, Chase Collins, Scott Gronewold, Jake Thompson, Josh Thompson, and Drew Snow. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
