Johnny K. Luke

Mr. Johnny K. Luke, 74, also know as Captain John, died Friday, December 11, 2015, at his daughter’s home in Sturgis, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 14th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Stacy Parvin and Rev. Jonathan Stokes officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Murphy Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Luke was born July 26, 1941, in Greenville, MS. He was retired after over 30 years as a towboat captain. He was a member of Whitehall United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Luke; two sisters, Frances Smith and Jewel Lovorn; and three brothers, Pete Luke, James Luke, and Kent Luke.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Borgnanelli (Chris) Starnes of Sturgis, MS; a son, Johnny (Lisa) Luke of Louisville, MS; a sister, Mary Edna Steadman of Louisville; a brother, Frankie Luke of Louisville; and a granddaughter, Sanci Borganelli of Sturgis, MS.

Pallbearers will be Eric Watts, Allen Watts, Gabriel Watts, Robert Deweese, Charles Peay, and David Luke. Honorary pallbearer will be Walter Kincaid. Memorials may be made to Whitehall United Methodist Church or Murphy Creek Cemetery Fund.
