William “Billy” Rodgers

William “Billy” Rodgers, 88, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9 a.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Rodgers was born October 29, 1927, to William and Myrtle Warner Rodgers. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Louisville where he enjoyed singing in the choir and he was a member of the Men’s Chorus. He retired from the United States Postal Service. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy aboard the U. S. S. Point Cruz.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Lisa Bane and husband, Darren, of Meridian, Mississippi; and by two sons, Charles “Sonny” Rodgers of Louisville, Mississippi; and William “Buddy” Rodgers of Kosciusko, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Pap Paw” to five grandchildren: Brooke, Brittany, and Brianna Bane; and Chris and Charlotte Rodgers. Also left to mourn his passing is three great-grandchildren: Destiny Rodgers; Nathan Vandusen and Erika Vandusen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Gordon Rodgers; his parents; and his brother, Jimmy Rodgers.
