Mrs. Mona Gay Goodin, 58, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 13th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. James Mills and Rev. Hubert Yates officiating. Interment will be in Wake Forest Cemetery in Sturgis, MS. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Goodin was born March 28, 1956, in Ackerman, MS. She was an administrative assistant in the Entomology Department at Mississippi State University, and a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Smith Oswalt and Coy Oswalt.
Mona is survived by husband, Paul Goodin of Sturgis, MS; her daughter, Melanie (West) Watkins of Louisville, MS; her half-brother, Billy Oswalt of Longview, TX; grandchildren, Karley and Laura Leigh Watkins; and numerous cousins.
