Jack Woodward

Jack Woodward, 92, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday, December 6, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey with Rev. Stacy Parvin and Rev. Jonathan Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Jack was born on October 15, 1922, to Clyde and Florence Hall Woodward. He was a member of Whitehall United Methodist Church; a pipeline welder for many years; and a cotton and dairy farmer. He answered the call of his country by serving in the 106th Infantry Division/590th Field Artillery in World War II during which time he was captured and held as a Prisoner of War for four months in Germany. Jack was also a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and he was a Mason.

Mr. Woodward is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hildreth Price Woodward of Louisville; his daughter, Neah Kathryn Woodward Bryan and husband, Jennings, of Flowery Branch, Georgia; his daughter-in-law, Ada Hancock Woodward; and his sister-in-law, Rosemary Woodward; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Richard Woodward; his parents; four sisters, Rachael Dempsey; Clyde J. Herron; Addie Orr Triplett; and Hazel Hill; and two brothers, G. Q. Woodward and Billy Woodward.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Gully, David Luke, Scott Ming, Jeff Reed, Jeffrey Woodward, and John Woodward. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Clyde Dempsey, Thomas Eaves, Kerry Edwards, Jimmy Horton, and Don Woodward. Memorials may be given to Whitehall United Methodist Church, c/o Garvin Whitten, 5521 Highway 14 West, Louisville, MS 39339.
