Clifford "Tebo" Daniels


Clifford “Tebo” Daniels went to his eternal rest Saturday, September 27, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2014, at Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Jones and Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Music will be provided by Dawn Parkes and Scott Prater. Interment will follow in Coy Methodist Church Cemetery in Preston, Mississippi.
He was born on December 8, 1929, in Neshoba County to Elvin and Bessie Luke Daniels.

Mr. Daniels is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Christine Patterson Daniels; and two daughters, Barbara Daniels Pearson and husband, Robert); and Betty Daniels Cotton and husband, David, all of Preston. He was “Granddaddy” to his three granddaughters, Christy Pearson Creel and husband, Travis; Beth Pearson Boatner; and Becky Pearson; all also of Preston. He took joy in being “Papa D” to five great-granddaughters: Breanna Boatner; Emma Creel; Bailey Boatner; Abby Creel; and Avery Creel.

He was a faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church, a veteran of the Marine Corp, and a Free Mason. He was known among his family and friends for sharing wisdom and good sound advice, as well as being a benevolent man throughout the community. After graduating Prince Chapel High School and ECCC, he embarked on his vocation as an electrician, working at Spartus Corporation for many years of his career. He also had a private electrical business, farmed, and raised cattle. Mr. “Tebo”, as he was lovingly called, enjoyed watching sports on television and traveling to see his daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters play sports. In his high school days, he was known for his ability to play basketball and later for playing and teaching others the fundamentals of the game. In later life, he traveled many miles to play checkers, winning many tournaments and was well-known among his checker peers.

Other survivors include two sisters, Sara Daniels McBrayer and Dorothy Daniels Stokes and husband, Joe, all from Demopolis, Alabama; and in-laws, Tilton and Jane Patterson of Preston; James and Martha Patters of Philadelphia, Mississippi; and Junior Robertson of Louisville. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, B. W. Daniels.

He lived life well and followed one of his favorite scripture passages: “…but for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” Joshua 24:15.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ferrell Alexander, Travis Creel, Derrell McBrayer, Ricky Patterson, Sherlon Patterson, and Mike Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of Harmony Baptist Church.
