Eddie McBrayer

Eddie McBrayer, 76, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi.   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Flake and Rev. Wayne Hill officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Interment will follow in the Crystal Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dewayne Kelsey officiating.


Mr. McBrayer was born on March 31, 1938, to Ellen Adcock McBrayer and Albert Webster McBrayer, Sr.  He was a member of Crystal Ridge Baptist Church and has worked as a Steel Clerk at Taylor Machine Works for 51 years.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Katherine Flake McBrayer, of Louisville; his daughter, Angie McBrayer Nowell, of Philadelphia, Mississippi; and his son, Ray McBrayer and wife, Pat, of Montgomery, Alabama.  Mr. McBrayer has four grandchildren:  Dee McBrayer and wife, Kylie; Kyle McBrayer and wife, Craegh, all of Montgomery, Alabama; Jessi Nowell Jones and husband, Trey, of Hernando, Mississippi; and Molli Nowell of Philadelphia; as well as one great-grandson, Jackson Avery Jones.   He is also survived by two brothers; J. W. McBrayer and wife, Dolly; and Albert McBrayer and wife, Wanda; and by five sisters, Bettye Fisher; Ann Jenness; Martha O’Shia; Margie Brown and husband, Bill; and Peggy Pace and husband, Billy.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Adcock McBrayer; and his brother, Andy McBrayer.  

Serving as pallbearers will be Dee McBrayer, Kyle McBrayer, Trey Jones, Ronnie Flake, Chance Fortenberry, and Mike Robertson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Gillett, Denny Miles, James Lewis, Willie Edmonds, Louie Ficher, and Billy “Rabbit” Ward.  Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
