Dr. S.W. Pearson, Jr.
Dr. Silas Wesley Pearson, Jr., of Oxford, Miss, formerly of Louisville, Miss., died June 25, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Silas Wesley Pearson, Sr., his mother Blanche Carr Pearson, sisters Inez F. McGraw and Evelyn P. Bobo, and his brother E.T. Bartlett.
Dr. Pearson was born in Louisville on October 31, 1924. He graduated from Louisville High School in 1943 and entered military service in September 1943. He served two and a half years in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific with the 345th Bomb Group.
After being honorably discharged in 1946, he entered the University of Mississippi in June of that year and received a B.A. degree in 1949. While at Ole Miss he married Frances Eva Kitchens of Louisville in April of 1947.
He entered the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis in 1950. After graduation in 1953 he moved back to Louisville and established a dental practice and served faithfully for 40 years. He retired in 1993.
After retirement, he and Frances enjoyed traveling and attending reunions of his military squadron. His other hobbies included gardening and listening to ragtime and jazz.
He leaves his wife of 67 years; his daughter Betty Carole Wittjen (Jack) of Oxford, his son Wesley Brewer Pearson (Lisa) of Madison; and his grandchildren Lauren Webb Mitchell (Luke) of New York, NY, Carole Webb Glidewell (Jeremy) of Oxford, and James Wesley Webb of Washington, D.C.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 27, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Louisville, with Rev. Billy Bowie officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
