Billy Files McDowell



Mr. Billy Files McDowell, 79, passed away surrounded by his loving family onMonday, April 14, 2014, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wayne Hill and Mr. David Stewart officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home inLouisville from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. McDowell was born on September 18, 1934, to Mary Etta Files McDowell and William A. McDowell. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville and he was a Service Representative for 38 years at Taylor Machine Works in Louisville. He honoured his country by serving in the United States Army from March 1957 to March 1964.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy Jean Baker McDowell of Louisville; and two daughters, Julie Long and husband, Kevin, of Birmingham, Alabama; and Jeana Kowerduck and husband, Scott, of Harvest, Alabama. Mr. McDowell is also survived by his sister, Nancy Stuart and husband, Stan, of Vaiden, Mississippi; and two grandchildren, Melissa Kowerduck and Seth Long. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Billy Don Baker, Bobby Baker, Brock Baker, Christopher Baker, Richard Hunt, Allen Martin, Michael Martin, and Stan Stuart. Honorary pallbearers are members of the David Stewart Sunday School class and Ackerman High School Class of 1953. Memorials may be given toFirst Baptist Church, P. O. Box 547, Louisville, MS 39339; to Concord BaptistChurch, 7420 MS Highway 15, Ackerman, MS; or to the charity of your choice.
