Velma Mayo

Velma Mayo, 82, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. 
Mrs. Mayo was born on March 28, 1931, to Lillie Mae Jackson Dickerson and John Marshall Dickerson. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and she was a bookkeeper at Taylor Machine Works for 33 years. 
She is survived by her son, Steve Mayo, of Louisville, and by two brothers, Harvey Dickerson and wife, Dorothy, of Philadelphia, Mississippi; and Wayren Dickerson and wife, Wanda, also of Louisville. Mrs. Mayo is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred Mayo; her sister, Maxine Mills; her brother, John Henry Dickerson; and her parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be Barry VanLandingham, Chris VanLandingham, Dewayne Rushing, Chris Mitchell, Danny Robertson, and Edward Mayo. Memorials may be given to Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Kay Black, 3942 Shiloh Road, Louisville, MS 39339.
