Noel Travis Palmer, Sr.

Mr. Noel Travis Palmer, Sr., 85, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at his home in Philadelphia, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 9th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Hubert Yates officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Palmer was born July 6, 1928, in Winston County. He was a retired manager of Richton Tie and Timber, a farmer, and also served his country for 16 years in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Palmer was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church in Philadelphia, and formerly a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Louisville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bertha Lee Myers and Theron Pierce Palmer; and two sisters, Louise Gregory and Melba Ball.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Ollie Jane Chancellor Palmer; his son, Noel Travis (Ramona) Palmer, Jr.; and his daughter, Nancy Diana Palmer, all of Philadelphia, MS; grandchildren, Jessica Swindle, Heather Parker, Matt Permenter, and Jessica Graham; great grandchildren, Dylan, Bryant, Macie, Noah, John, and Chad; one sister, Gloria Nowell of Louisville, MS; and three brothers, Joe W. Palmer of Louisville, MS, James A. Palmer of Orlando, FL, and Billy Wayne Palmer of Daytona Beach, FL.
