J.C. Carter

Mr. J. C. Carter of Noxapater, Mississippi, 88, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Montfort Jones Hospital in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, onSaturday, November 2, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Noxapater Baptist Church with Rev. Trent Bilbo officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mr. Carter was born on February 8, 1925, to Scott and Flora Ruthven Carter. He was a member of Noxapater Baptist Church and he was a retired surveyor for the Mississippi Highway Department. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy and he was a loyal Bulldog fan.

J. C. is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elsie Estes Carter; his daughter, Donna Spiers and husband, Graylon; and his granddaughter, Leslie Spiers all of Noxapater. Mr. Carter is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Luvie Thomas; and his brother, Cecil Carter.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Blount, William Watson, Van Barrier, Jr., James Coward, Scotty Crawford, Ed Salley, Homer Watkins, and Therrell Smith. Memorials may be given to Noxapater Baptist Church Family Life Center Fund or Mt. Carmel Cemetery Fund, c/o Noxapater BaptistChurch, P.O.
