Mr. John Hubert Dempsey, 77, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Sunday, September 1, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 2, 2013, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Dowd and Rev. Owen Gordon, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Dempsey was born on February 28, 1936, to John Burney and Ruby Giffin Dempsey. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and he was a retired construction worker. He faithfully served his country by serving in the United States Army. Mr. Dempsey was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
John Hubert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma Dean Dempsey; his daughter, Tracy McCully and husband, William; and his granddaughter, Myrrah Elizabeth McCully all of Louisville. He is also survived by his sisters: Topsy Hickox (Bill) of Fitzgerald, Georgia; Carol Crosby (Ron Vorreryer) of Pascagoula, Mississippi; and Lottie Whitmire (Shelton) of Louisville. He also has two brothers, David Lynn Dempsey and Jimmy Boyd Dempsey (Joann) both of Louisville. Mr. Dempsey is preceded in death by his parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cully Hudspeth, Noah Corcoran, Joe Vowell, Michael Ingram, William Vowell, and Joel McCully. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, P. O.
