Mrs. Bessie Leona Richardson Whitehead, 87, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013, in the Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2013,
from 12 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Kelsey and Mr. Scott Eaves officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitehead was born on February 2, 1926, to Clifton V. and Carrie White Richardson. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and she was a homemaker and a gifted seamstress.
Mrs. Whitehead is survived by her daughter, Gloria Flake and husband, Jeff, of Louisville, Mississippi; and by her grandson, Jamie Flake and wife, Kim, of Noxapater, Mississippi. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Braxton Thomas Flake and Jaycie Claire Flake. Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Whitehead; her parents; two sisters, Jennie Miles and Inez Miles; and by two brothers, Prince and Weldon Richardson.
Pallbearers will be Artis Miles, Gene Richardson, Curtis Richardson, Danny Richardson, Michael Miles, Charles Miles, and Doug Richardson. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
