Robert P. Hemphill, Jr.


Mr. Robert P. Hemphill, Jr., from Louisville, Mississippi, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the age of 75. He passed away in Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Porter Funeral Home with Reverend Junior Davis, Reverend Walter Simmons, and Reverend Nathan Fitts officiating. Interment will follow at Murphy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hemphill was born August 16, 1937, in Winston County. He was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church and the Betheden Masonic Lodge. He proudly served his country as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division in the United States Army. Robert was a multi-talented entrepreneur, a gifted wood craftsman, and an avid fisherman. After a successful career with Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company, he retired in 1994. Robert was a loving husband and father. His greatest delight was spending time with his children and grandchildren, instilling in them the value of a loving family.
Mr. Hemphill is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Cynthia Hill Hemphill, of Louisville, Mississippi; his son, Timothy R. Hemphill, Sr., and wife, Susi of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; his daughters, Jana Hemphill Wilburn and husband, Gary of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Tina Hemphill Fitts and husband, Nathan of Tupelo, Mississippi; Melanie Hemphill Bradford and husband, John of Leesville, Louisiana; and Andrea Hemphill Harrell and husband, Wayne of Tupelo, Mississippi. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Additionally, Mr. Hemphill is survived by his brothers, Bernion Hemphill and wife, Mae of Greenwood, Mississippi; C.F. Eldridge and wife, El Verna of Wichita, Kansas; and one sister, Joyce Gomez and husband Frank of San Diego, California, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. Hemphill, Sr., and wife, Lillie Mae Warren Hemphill and four sisters.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Hemphill, Terry Hill, Michael Hill, Steven Hill, Scott Hemphill, Timothy R. Hemphill, Jr., and Bradley Fitts.
