Howard Cecil Ray

Mr. Howard Cecil Ray, 87, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Visitation will be at Flower Ridge United Methodist Church in Louisville, Mississippi, on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Funeral services will be held at Flower Ridge Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Larry Haggard and Rev. Scarlet Sheppard officiating. Interment will be in Flower Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born on December 11, 1925, Mr. Ray was a member of Flower Ridge United Methodist Church. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree fromDelta State University and his Master’s degree from Mississippi State University. He was a retired school superintendent in Immokalee, Florida. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Ray is survived by his son, Ted Randall Roebuck of Immokalee, Florida; two grandchildren, Joshua Wade Roebuck and Amanda Jean Roebuck; one great-grandchild; and by his sister-in-law, Mary Darby and husband, Paul, of Noxapater, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie May Ray; his parents, R. F. and Mary Lee Hodges Ray; and his brother, Tabor Ray.
