Mr. Paul D. Guthrie passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, at 87 years of age after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on September 10, 1924, to Jim and Minnie Guthrie. He was a member of Noxapater United Methodist Church. He began his career with the military during World War II and retired in 1972. Afterwards, he worked with Department of Defense Contractors in Saudi Arabia and Iran.
He is survived by his wife, Odine; grandson, John and wife, Courtney; great-granddaughters, Ella and Anna; and brothers, James Guthrie and Harvey Guthrie and wife, Shirley; brother-in-law, Jim Curto, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Randal “Randy” Guthrie; his parents; his brother, Roger Rhubel Guthrie; sisters-in-law, Irene Russell Curto and Etta Lee Guthrie; his grandmother, Gertrude Wright and special aunt, Gertie Peden.
A time of visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Reed and Rev. Chris Vowell officiating. Interment will be in the Mt.Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater, Mississippi. Arrangements are under the direction of Nowell-Massey Funeral Home of Louisville, Mississippi.
