Lillie Jean Stringer Cockrell

Mrs. Lillie Jean Stringer Cockrell, 75, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Betheden Cemetery with Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. Born on May 1, 1935, Mrs. Cockrell was a homemaker and a member of Evergreen Baptist Church where she loved going to Sunday School and church with her friends. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She also loved to fish and her grandchildren were her life. She loved everyone. Mrs. Cockrell is survived by three daughters: Becky Waddell and husband, Larry, of Noxapater, Mississippi, Pamela Jean Blanton and husband, Jerome, of Louisville, Mississippi, Anjanette “Missy” Fuller Zinke and husband, Philip, of Tylertown, Mississippi; two sons, Palmer Wilson Young of Noxapater, Mississippi, and Charles Grady Fuller and wife, Shelia, of Forest, Mississippi; one brother, James Stringer and wife, Mona, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Joe “C. J.” Cockrell and her brother, Lamar Stringer. Pallbearers will be Eric Blanton, James Blanton, Palmer Young, Stuart Waddell, Alex Zinke, and James Edwards. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetic Association. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, Mississippi, is handling the arrangements.
