James L. "Sonny" Boydstun

Mr. James L. “Sonny” Boydstun, 73, died Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Regency Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12th, at 11:00 A.M. at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Haggard officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Boydstun was born December 10, 1936, in Louisville, MS. He was a retired supervisor for the Mississippi Dept. of Transportation. He was a graduate of East Central Communtiy College and attended Mississippi State University. He was an Army veteran, a Gideon, and a a member of Rocky Hill United Methodist Church, where he served as Treasurer, Lay Leader, and as a delegate of Annual Conference for 37 years. He was a faithful volunteer at Winston Academy for over 20 years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Boydstun. He is survived by his wife, Jean McLeod Boydstun; a daughter, Jamie Boydstun of Starkville, MS; a son, Lee (Jennifer) Boydstun of Livingston, AL; a sister, Helen (Wendell) Rogers of Louisville; two brothers, David (Nell) Boydstun and Richard (Martha) Boydstun, both of Louisville; a granddaughter, Rebecca Boydstun; and two step-grandchildren, Daniel & Olivia Smith. Memorials may be made to Rocky Hill United Methodist Church, the Gideons, or Winston Academy.
