Sidney Callahan

Mr. Sidney F. Callahan, Sr., 74, died Saturday, May 29th, at his home in Birmingham, AL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 1st, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Garner officiating. Interment will be in Conn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Callahan was born May 21, 1936, in Mashulaville, MS, the son of Ruby Kate Conn and Bufford Ray Callahan. He was retired from the painting and construction business. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Harthcock, a sister, Evonne Young, and a brother, Thomas Ray Callahan. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ellis Callahan of Birmingham, AL; two daughters, Diane Jones of Birmingham, AL, and Wendy Ward of Jonesboro, AR; two sons, Sidney “Bubba” Callahan, Jr., and Dennis Callahan, both of Weir, MS; eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Tombo Callahan, Craig Callahan, Tim Ward, Cory Fischer, Ryan Fischer, and Zane Callahan. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
