Mrs. Herrington was born October 17, 1931 in the Vowell community in Winston County. In 1954, she married Chester Herrington of Louisville, Miss., where they made their home and raised their son, Checky.

She was the librarian for Louisville Middle School until her retirement and had previously worked as a bookkeeper for the Louisville city clerk and Winston County chancery clerk’s office. She was a member of Louisville’s First Baptist Church, where she cherished relationships made in her Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Republican Women's Club.

Mrs. Herrington is remembered for the many gestures of warmth, thoughtfulness and care she expressed in everyday life. She enjoyed Sunday afternoon picnics, spending time with family and friends, and listening to old hymns. Guests in her home could always count on fresh-baked homemade sugar cookies, or a slice of their favorite cake or pie.

She loved gardening and was once awarded yard of the month, and she always saved her best homegrown tomatoes for friends and neighbors. Over the years, she mailed countless cards and notes to friends and family members to commemorate all occasions, or just to say hello.
